White and Blue Sgraffito Rim Small BowlThis small serving bowl can be used to share condiments, salsa, snacks or dips, or as a beautiful bowl for strawberries, ice cream or soup for one. This handmade bowl was made on the wheel in stoneware clay, then embellished with sgraffito, or hand carving. After a first bisque firing, I applied a sky blue glaze that would pool into the carved recesses. Finally, the piece is fired a second time for a durable vitrified finish.

I threw the form on the wheel and hand-painted the surface with several coats of slip (liquid clay) that I had tinted a velvety black

A creamy glaze flecked with green is highlighted along the rim with an iridescent green for an elegantly rustic impact on your table
